As a young teenager, Raoul Belmans was exceptionally interested in electric boogie music, breakdancing, and hip-hop culture in general. He started to play in 1991 on a local radio station. In 1993, he started a new show with a several friends broadcasting live in the area of the University City of Leuven, Belgium. This show was such a success that his first bookings (mostly in pubs & small cozy parties) started to come in very frequently. The radio show came to an end somewhere in '95.
Currently in high demand for his dancefloor-friendly style, Raoul Belmans' star has been fast-rising ever since 1996, when he scored a DJ residency at the legendary club Food and subsequently joined forces with Dimitri Dewever to form Belgian deep house duo Swirl People. Now with a slew of releases on respected labels such as Seasons, Amenti, and Raoul's own Aroma, the Swirl People have become an undeniable staple in the global underground dance scene.
